Ohio Mini-Tour Day 4 - Bellefontaine to Bellbrook

OK, I was bad about taking pictures yesterday. All I have is this one from when we were finished.

It was raining when we woke up, so we hung out in the motel until it stopped around 9. We were on the road by 9:30.

It was 20 miles of the shoulder of US 68 to Urbana, then we switched over to paved rail trail for 35 miles through Springfield to Xenia, then 5 miles of back roads to Mandy's. There was a gravel rail trail we could have taken instead of 68, but Max preferred the paved shoulder with passing semi trucks and many dead raccoons. Next year, he will have outgrown his current bike, and he will be riding something that can take wider tires.

Lunch was at a Famous Recipe chicken in Springfield. We had the lug the bikes up two flights of steps to get off the trail for chicken. Instead of lugging them back down the steps, we rode on the streets through the center of Springfield.

We had dinner with Mandy and local high school friend Laura at Lock 27, a brewpub in Centerville. It was yummy.

The shifter on the Campeur is very bad, I basically fiddled with it until I got it to stay in a reasonable gear, and then only used the front shifter and rode as a three speed. This worked fine (flat terrain) until I would forget and shift the rear out of habit.

Here is the Strava track.
